Description
Atitlan is one of Guatemala’s eight coffee regions. The soil from this region is extremely rich in organic matter. Ninety percent of the coffee from Atitlan is cultivated along the slopes of the volcanoes that dominate the shores of Lake Atitlan. The Punda is a high scoring natural processed coffee using only ripe cherries. These cherries are delivered daily to the mill called Santa Barbara in a town called Alotenango. At the mill, this coffee is sun dried on patios for future transportation to the dry mill named Ixchel, near the capital city.
