Flat Black Hosts September 15, 2016 THURSDAY NIGHT THROWDOWN (TNT)
Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016:
Flat Black Coffee recently hosted September's TNT at its Franklin Street location in Boston's Financial District. It was a huge success! Competitor baristas hailed from Flat Black (of course), Ogawa, Thinking Cup, George Howell Coffee, Darwins, and others!
There were 20 competitors and twice as many spectators. It was a great to have Boston's specialty coffee community come together under one roof for fun, refreshments, and some good-spirited competition. The play was simple: each barista got one pour per heat to show off their latte art skills, pouring rosettas, tulips, hearts and swans, or whatever else displayed their skills. Each was judged on clarity of design, symmetry, contrast, and overall appeal.
The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners took home Flat Black gift bags, and the champion also won half the entry fees!
The rest of the fees collected, along with generous donations from the fans, were donated to the Greater Boston Food Bank. So everyone was a winner!
Special thanks also to Notch Brewery, of Salem, MA, for co-sponsoring the event!
Final results:
1st Place: Jake from Thinking Cup
2nd Place: Sophie from Flat Black Coffee
3rd Place: Michael from George Howell Coffee
